PV’s Strechay, Warriors’ Duda reach career scoring marks

He wasn’t the leading scorer for the Methacton boys basketball team Tuesday.

But David Duda compiled some very high-quality points for the Warriors, and himself, as Methacton outlasted Phoenixvil­le in their Pioneer Athletic Conference divisional crossover game.

Duda scored 11 points to join the area’s 1,000-point club. Erik Timko paced Methacton with 27 points, and Jeff Woodward added 17 as the Warriors went up 45-27 at the half and did not look back.

Bryce Palcko and Dorian Johnson led Phoenixvil­le with 11 points each. PERKIOMEN VALLEY 58, UPPER MERION 36 >> Tyler Strechay also joined the area’s 1,000-point fraternity with a big scoring effort in Perk Valley’s victory over Upper Merion.

Strechay almost matched UM’s entire offensive output, collecting 35 points. He got 21 of them off seven 3-point baskets, and 23 in the second half, helping PV expand its 29-14 halftime advantage.

Nick Shepperd was Merion’s leading scorer with 18 points.

SPRING-FORD 66, POTTSTOWN 48 >> Robert Bobeck hit for 22 points to lead the Rams over the Trojans in their PAC divisional crossover game.

Tyler Scilingo kicked in with another 11 to help Spring-Ford open a 33-13 halftime lead after going up in the first quarter, 17-2. Floyd Dashiell scored 19 to lead Pottstown, with Donovan Towson adding 10. POTTSGROVE 63, BOYERTOWN 58 >> Led by Manny Clark, who finished with 21 points, Pottsgrove scored 34 points in the fourth to erase a 49-29 deficit at the end of three quarters.

Khaliym Smith chipped in 15 points, and Justin Robinson scored 12 points. Aarick Salata led Boyertown with 19 points. NORRISTOWN 78, UPPER PERKIOMEN 55 >> Aaron Reddish was among the four double-figure scorers that propelled the Eagles past the Indians in their PAC divisional crossover game.

Reddish got a share of game scoring honors with his 14-point outing. Hunter Flack was high scorer for UP at 13.

Girls basketball

OWEN J. ROBERTS 48, POPE JOHN PAUL II 42 >> Olivia LeClaire hit for a gamehigh 26 points to key the Wildcats’ victory over the Golden Panthers in their PAC divisional crossover clash.

Avery White was next in scoring for Owen J. with eight. PJP got a 16-point outing from Kallan Bustynowic­z and 11 from Elise Sylvester. POTTSGROVE 51, BOYERTOWN 48 >> Though the Bears forced things into overtime, the Falcons came up bigger in the extra period to get the victory in this PAC divisional crossover game.

Riley Simon scored a game-high 16 points for Pottsgrove, which held a 9-6 scoring edge in the OT frame. Ashley Kapp and Amber Marburger shared the scoring lead for Boyertown, each with 13 points. METHACTON 42, PHOENIXVIL­LE 31 >> Though Ameerah Green got high-scoring honors for the Phantoms, Sydney Tornetta and Sydney Hargrove combined to negate her point total in the Warriors’ PAC divisional crossover victory.

Green, who had 13, was Phoenixvil­le’s lone double-figure scorer. Tornetta and Hargrove hit for 11 and 10 points, respective­ly, to spark Methacton SPRING-FORD 72, POTTSTOWN 44 >> Lucy Olsen hit for a game-high 17 points to lead the Rams past the Trojans in their PAC divisional crossover game.

Cassie Marte chipped in with another 10 to help Spring-Ford open a 47-13 lead in the first half. Trinek Watson hit for 11 points to lead Pottstown. UPPER MERION 36, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 34 >> Maddie Harvey was the game’s lone player to score in double figures, and her effort paid off for Upper Merion in its narrow PAC divisional crossover victory over Perkiomen Valley.

Harvey had 12 points in helping UM build a fivepoint (26-21) lead prior to a fourth quarter PV won 1310. Kelly Owens led Perk Valley’s offense with an eight-point outing. HAMBURG 37, DANIEL BOONE 35>> Julie Harbonic scored 16 points to lead the Hawks over the Blazers.

Courtney Gabbett had a game-high 17 points for Boone. HILL SCHOOL 48, AC. OF NEW CHURCH 13 >> The Blues got strong contributi­ons from their bench as they downed Academy of the New Church in non-league play.

Hill’s bench saw significan­t minutes and made them count, Anna Schlegel scoring seven points, Violet Robertson five and Addie Steele four. Olivia Matto had a game-high 14 points for the Blues (9-7), including a trio of threes, and Cynthia Williams followed with eight points.

Boys swimming

SPRING-FORD 94, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 91 >> Brendan Baganski figuring in on four firstplace finishes was key to the Rams edging the VIkings in their PAC meet.

Baganski won the 50 free (22.56) and 100 free (49.96) in addition to swimming the anchor legs on SpringFord’s winning 200 free (1:32.20) and 400 free (3:26.20) relays. Jacob Replogle was a two-race winner for PV, taking the 200 IM (2:01.83) and 100 back (58.29). OWEN J. ROBERTS 84, NORRISTOWN 66 >> Dalton Fink was a two-race winner for the Wildcats in their PAC meet with the Eagles.

Fink won the 200 free (2:07.44) and 500 free (4:41.62). Winning races for Norristown were Ethan Stilley (100 back, 1:20.92) and Alex Waskiewicz (100 breast, 1:05.72).

Girls swimming

SPRING-FORD 102, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 78 >> With Katie Parker and Anna Curran winning pairs of individual races, the Rams scored their first-ever meet victory over the Vikings.

Parker won the 200 IM (2:13.22) and 500 free (5:20.09), with Curran doing the wsame in the 100 free (56.21) and 100 breast (1:12.17). PV’s individual firsts came from Alyssa Marano in the 50 free, 25.81), Gabby Filzen in diving (218 points), Emily Hinz in the 100 fly (1:00.28) and Ashley Derrick in the 100 back (1:01.80). OWEN J. ROBERTS 94, NORRISTOWN 68 >> Kaily Zakarevicz and Ella Greenholt figured in on three of the Wildcats’ winning performanc­es in their PAC meet with the Eagles.

Zakarevicz took first in the 50 free (32.21) and Greenholt in the 100 fly (1:17.92); they also swam legs of Roberts’ winning 200 medley relay (2:25.51). Norristown got individual-race wins from Chynna Boyd (100 free, 1:22.53), Katie Mocarsky (100 back, 1:51.630 and Olivia Parks (100 breast, 1:35.93).
