Sayers, OJR boys top Boyertown

Ryan Sayers headed a trio of double-figure scorers that fueled the Owen J. Roberts boys basketball team’s offense in their 64-52 PAC Liberty Division victory over Boyertown Thursday.

Sayers hit for a game-high 24 points to key Owen J, which got 14 from Jacob Demech and 12 from Nick Massa. Boyertown’s offensive stars were Aarick Salata with 15 points and Hunter Borgmann with 13. UPPER MERION 63, UPPER PERKIOMEN 50 >> The Vikings used a third-quarter scoring surge to overtake the Indians and win this PAC Frontier Division game.

Paced by Nick Shepperd’s game-high 17 points, UM used a 24-4 edge in the third quarter to erase UP’s 28-24 halftime lead. Drew Kupchak hit for 14 points to head a trio of double-figure scorers for UP, with Jake Plessl and Macauley Swen adding 10 apiece.

MUHLENBERG 83, DANIEL BOONE 54 >> Caidan Iaccarino scored 18 points and Mikai Washington had 13 as the Muhls jumped out to a 12-point lead in the first quarter in the win over the Blazers.

Chaunce Johnson led Daniel Boone with a gamehigh 21 points.

ST. BENEDICT’S 61, PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 51 >> The Panthers dropped a tough one on the road against St. Benedict’s Prep, which mounted a pair of runs on the way to the non-league victory.

The Grey Bees jumped out to a 16-2 lead early in the first before Perkiomen battled back to go up at the half, 26-24. St. Benedict’s then started the half on a 10-0 run. Chris Arcidiacon­o finished with 18 points on four made 3-pointers for Perkiomen, and Niels Lane added 14 points.

CONCORD CHRISTIAN 44, WEST-MONT CHRISTIAN 29 >> Tyler Fox came up with a double-double for the Wings in their Atlantic Coast Christian AC game with Concord Christian.

Fox scored 19 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead West-Mont.

Girls basketball

OWEN J. ROBERTS 54, BOYERTOWN 41 >> Olivia LeClaire had 20 points and Diana Rantz 15 to lead the Wildcats past the Bears in PAC Liberty Division play.

Ashley Kapp led Boyertown with 13 points, including three 3-pointers. The Bears led 26-20 after the first half, but the Wildcats used a 16-3 third quarter to pull away. SPRING-FORD 48, METHACTON 35 >> Cassie Marte and Emmily Tiffan combined for 27 points to lead the Rams past the Warriors in PAC Liberty Division action.

Marte hit for a gamehigh 16 points — 12 of them on baskets from 3-point range — while Tiffan added 11. Methacton, which had nobody score in double figures, was led by Sydney Tornetta’s eight-point effort and Nicole Timko’s seven. PERKIOMEN VALLEY 68, NORRISTOWN 34 >> The Vikings doubled up the Eagles in their PAC Liberty Division game, led by the scoring of Kelly Owens and Sara Nijssen.

Owens got 12 of her game-high 15 points off four 3-point baskets, and Njissen chipped in with 13. Norristown’s leading scorer was Brooke Heim with 10 points.

POTTSGROVE 32, POPE JOHN PAUL II 30 >> With a 12-7 edge in fourth-quarter scoring, the Falcons erased the Golden Panthers’ early lead and pulled out a close victory in their PAC Frontier Division pairing.

Riley Simon scored 10 points — the highlight a free throw with four seconds left — to finish as both the game’s offensive leader and lone player to hit double figures. Elise Sylvester, who tied the game at 3030 by making a pair of foul shots, and Tess Crossan had nine points apiece to lead PJP.

UPPER MERION 56, UPPER PERKIOMEN 14 >> Kaitlyn Mundy was the bright spot for the Indians while they fell to the Vikings in a PAC Frontier Division contest.

Mundy scored 10 points to provide UP the bulk of its offense.

Boys swimming

SPRING-FORD 110, UPPER PERKIOMEN 60 >> Kyle Kovalenko won two individual events to lead the Indians in their PAC meet with the Rams.

Kovalenko took first in the 200 free (1:52.22) and 100 breast (1:02.59). SpringFord’s individual event winners were Cory Laing in the 200 IM (2:18.55), Brendan Naganski in the 50 free (22.48), Sean Laing in the 100 fly (56.79), Sam Ricci in the 100 free (53.34) and Luke McKenna in the 500 free (4:52.24); it also swept the relays, with the Laings and Baganski swimming legs of the 200 and 400 free events. READING HIGH 100, DANIEL BOONE 73 >> Chris Guiliano won two individul races to head the Blazers in their meet with the Red Knights.

Guiliano headed the 100 free (48.12) and 100 breast (1:04.47). He also swam the anchor leg on Boone’s winning 200 free relay, teaming with Justin Eves, Jacob Santos and Jesse Wounderly for a 1;35.63 clocking.

Girls swimming

UPPER PERKIOMEN 91, SPRING-FORD 79 >> Noel Fresa’s record showing led the Indians to victory over the Rams in PAC competitio­n.

Fresa’s winning time of 1:00.01 in the 100 fly broke a 22-year-old UP team record by 1.71 seconds, and she also won the 50 free (24.32). Bailey McCausland gave the Tribe another pair of firsts in the 200 free (2:05.15) and 100 breast (1;12.64) while Emma Thomas (500 free, 5:43.28) and Katie Parker (100 back, 1:04.50) won events for Spring-Ford.

READING HIGH 108, DANIEL BOONE 68 >> Rachel Woomer won the Blazers’ lone individual races in their meet with the Red Knights.

Woomer took the 200 IM (2:18.55) and the 100 breast (1:12.51).

Co-ed bowling

RAMS SPLIT >> The SpringFord boys swept past Norristown in their match, 4-0, while the Eagle girls topped the Ram girls by a similar score.

Brennan Doan and Bobby Schneeweis were a close 1-2 for Spring-Ford, Doan rolling a 614 series to Schneeweis’ 613. Ashley Della Guardia was the SF girls’ leader with her 468 series.
