Malachi Richardson is going to get a chance to show what he can do when given minutes on an NBA floor.

And he’s going to get to do it with the Sixers.

The Sixers acquired the Trenton native and former star at Trenton Catholic Academy from the Toronto Raptors as part of a busy Wednesday that began in the early-morning hours when they swung a blockbuster trade to bring in Tobias Harris from the Los Angeles Clippers.

Richardson, 23, has spent the majority of his career either injured or in the GLeague since he was selected 22nd overall in the 2016 draft out of Syracuse. An athletic 6-foot-6, 205-pound wing, Richardson has played in 70 career NBA games between Sacramento and Toronto.

The Sixers also got the Raptors’ 2022 secondround pick and Euro stash Emir Preldzic in the deal in which they sent cash considerations the other way.

Richardson sat out Toronto’s victory over the Sixers on Tuesday night with a sore knee. He’s played sparingly at the NBA level during, but in 41 career GLeague games he’s averaging 15.6 points and shooting 37.6 percent from 3.

The Sixers badly need bench help. They also got the 7-foot-3 giant Boban Majanovic and Mike Scott from the Clippers in the Harris deal which saw Mike Muscala, Wilson Chandler, Landry Shamet and picks go the other way.

Meanwhile, Furkan Kormaz and Amir Johnson are all but out of the rotations, giving Richardson an opportunity to earn minutes.

The Sixers are 34-20 and fifth in the Eastern Conference, one game behind both Boston and Indiana.
