Police officer involved in two-vehicle crash

LOWER POTTSTROVE >> A township police officer suffered minor injuries and his vehicle sustained major damage after it was involved in a two-vehicle crash at Armand Hammer Boulevard by the ramp to Route 422.

At approximat­ely 3:15 p.m. on Friday, Lower Pottsgrove Police Officer Scott Bond on-duty when the crash occurred at the intersecti­on of Armand Hammer Boulevard at the eastbound entrance ramp to Route 422, according to informatio­n posted online by the department.

Bond was on routine patrol, exiting the Tri-County Business complex at 1000 Armand Hammer Boulevard and was traveling northbound facing a green traffic signal as he approached the intersecti­on with the eastbound entrance ramp to Route 422, according to police.

Bond was driving a marked 2018 Dodge Charger patrol unit.

As the officer entered the intersecti­on, a southbound vehicle, driven by Michael Quill, 27, of Pottstown, made a left turn in front of the oncoming patrol unit, resulting in the collision, police said. Quill was driving a 2008 Nissan Sentra. Both drivers sustained minor injuries. Bond was transporte­d to Pottstown Hospital where he was treated and released from arm and neck injuries. Quill was evaluated by EMS on scene.

Both vehicles sustained major disabling damage and were towed from the scene, police said.

Traffic on Armand Hammer Boulevard and the entrance/exit ramp to 422 were closed during the accident investigat­ion and re-opened about 30 minutes later.

The accident is being investigat­ed by Limerick Township Police Department since it involved a Lower Pottsgrove police officer.
