EXETER >> A Union Township woman took more than 40 pieces of jewelry from sales displays in Boscov’s East into a store fitting room and smuggled them out of the store.

The woman spent about two hours in the store in Exeter Township, removing the individual pieces of jewelry from their cases, leaving the cases behind.

She also left something that helped police identify her as the suspect — her wallet, which contained her driver’s license.

Paige A. Breslin, 25, of the 300 block of Corys Court, was arraigned on a felony retail theft count Tuesday night before Senior District Judge Thomas M. Gauby Sr. in Reading Central Court.

She was committed to Berks County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail to await a hearing. She had not posted bail as of Thursday afternoon. According to Exeter police: Boscov’s security contacted police about a theft that occurred at the store on Aug. 31.

They said a woman, later identified as Breslin, took numerous clothing items and over 40 pieces of jewelry into the fitting room. She remained in the room almost

two hours then left the store without buying anything.

Employees immediately checked the fitting room and found over 40 empty jewelry containers wrapped in the clothing items she took into the room.

The jewelry items had a retail value of $1,368.

Breslin left the property in a vehicle that authorities learned was registered to a relative.

She was charged by summons.
