Girls cross country

POPE JOHN PAUL II 20, UPPER MERION 43 >> While Veronica Sanchez got individual race honors for the Vikings, the Golden Panthers completed a sweep of the PAC’s Frontier Division Thursday by placing in the next seven spots.

Sanchez ran a 20:04 to lead the way. Isabella Greco went second in 20:10 to lead PJP (5-0), with Gianna Cagliola third (21:36). OWEN J. ROBERTS 16, METHACTON 42 >> Claire Zubey and Hannah Kopec headed a 1-2-3-4 run for the Wildcats in Thursday’s PAC Liberty Division win over the Warriors.

Zubey covered her home course in 19:48, more than a minute ahead of Kopec (20:51). Calista VanDruff (21:15) and Charley Lustig (21:22) followed ahead of Methacton leader Madeline Ziegler (21:32).

Boys cross country

OWEN J. ROBERTS 15, METHACTON 44>> Vincent Fennell led the Wildcats’ sweep of the first five places in Thursday’s PAC Liberty Division meet with the Warriors.

Fennell clocked a 17:28 on his home course, three seconds ahead of Cole Smith (17:31) and six in front of Thomas Damiani and Andrew McGonigle (both 17:34). Josh DiMarino followed in fifth (17;37) for Roberts ahead of Methacton’s Bryan Landsberg (17;43). UPPER MERION 19, POPE JOHN PAUL II 41 >> Jason DiMarco and Jack Flynn were the bright spots for the Golden Panthers in Thursday’s PAC Frontier Division meet with the Vikings.

DiMarco ran an 18:38 to finish fourth behind UM’s lead pack. Flynn followed in fifth, clocking an 18:44.

Field hockey

POTTSGROVE 8, KUTZTOWN 0 >> The Falcons had seven different goalscorer­s in the non-league victory on Senior Night. Kathryn Hen

rickson led the way, scoring twice while Jayde Yorgey, Justine Fretz, Kennedy White, Sydney Tornetta, and Riely Simon also found the back of the net. Mackenzie Johnson recorded the shuttout in goal for Pottsgrove.

Kutztown’s Abigail Hilber had nine saves in net as well. UPPER PERKIOMEN 11, POTTSTOWN 0 >> The Indians marked Wednesday’s Senior Night festivitie­s with a second-half scoring onslaught in their PAC Frontier Division game with the Trojans.

Senior Jenna Fiorito recorded her first hat trick and Sydney Crossin scored two goals and recorded two assists. Bella Carpenter, Kate Rodenberge­r, AiYi Young, Jesse Traynor, Takoda Wells and Micheala Greczek also scored for UP, which hit the nets nine times in the second half while Ashlynn Gatto had another pair of assists.

UP goalies Lynnsi Joyce and Carly Eidle combined for the shutout, making just one save between them. OLEY VALLEY 9, BOYERTOWN 0>> Scoring seven times in the first half Wednesday, the Lynx set a fast pace in their non-league game with the Bears.

Laura Wigand and Hailey Levengood shared goaltendin­g duties for Boyertown. Wigand had 12 saves, and Levengood four, against a combined 25 shots.

Boys soccer

PERKIOMEN 1, BARRACK HEBREW ACADEMY 0 >> Zach Kratz scored the lone goal for the Panthers in their victory on Thursday. POPE JOHN PAUL II 6, POTTSTOWN 1 >> David Lattanze scored twice Wednesday to head the Golden Panthers’ PAC Frontier Division victory over the Trojans.

Lattanze had unassisted tallies in each half, helping PJP to a 2-1 lead in a first half that featured another unassisted goal by Henry Hernandez. Second-half action saw Stephan Rist and Joey Mazzio (penalty kick) join Lattanze in the scoring column, with an “own” goal by Pottstown completing the Panthers’ point output.

Dylan Russ gave PJP four-save goaltendin­g. TULPEHOCKE­N 2, DANIEL BOONE 0 >> Ace Aguirre had two goals, both assisted by Korey Ekvall, to lead the Trojans past the Blazers in Berks League play Wednesday.

Danny Krystopa’s fivesave goaltendin­g was the highlight for Boone (6-11)

Girls soccer BOYERTOWN 7, NORRISTOWN 2>> Samantha Devlin’s hatrick led the way for the Bears in their PAC Frontier victory on Thursday. Samantha Goffice, Camilla Kuever, Emma Beidler, and Janinna Jaronski also scored in the win.

Norristown’s Jane Baker scored twice in the effort. POPE JOHN PAUL II 2, UPPER MERION 0>> Lauryn Rezza and Emily Hughes were the goal scorers for the Panthers with assists from Lainey Owens and Rayna George respective­ly. Stacy Kormos recorded four saves in the shuttout. POPE JOHN PAUL II 1, MARPLE NEWTOWN 0 >> The Golden Panthers maintained their current roll Wednesday by outliastin­g the Tigers in their non-league game.

Kamryn Pufko got the first half goal for PJP — the Panthers 5-1-1 in their last seven outings — off the Julia Hull assist. Strong play from Lainey Owens, Delanie Didier, Emily Hughes and Erin Flanagan helped Stacy Kormos (seven saves) record PJP’s fiftth clean sheet of the season. EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 4, HILL SCHOOL 0 >> Episcopal Academy scored three secondhalf goals to break open what had been a tight match in the first half, defeating visiting Hill School in nonleague action Wednesday.

Maya Naimoli, Devon Whitaker, Lauren Cunningham, and Kendal Ellison tallied single goals for the Churchwome­n. Junior goalkeeper Marah Krick made 12 saves for Hill.
