Driver injured in school van crash
POTTSTOWN >> The driver of a Pottstown Schools van was injured Tuesday morning when the van he was driving was struck by another car.
John Armato, the district’s director of community relations, said no school children were inside the van when it was struck at the intersection of Diamond and Willow streets.
The crash occurred between 7:30 and 8 a.m. and the driver, Ed Kalsky, was trapped in the van for about 20 minutes before rescue workers released him by cutting through the roof of the van, which was laying on its side.
Kalsky was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital and the extent of his injuries are unknown.
The condition of the driver of the striking vehicle is also unknown.
The van is used daily to carry two special needs students to their respective schools.
Further details of the accident were not immediately available.
