BUCKTOWN >> Boyertown kept its record-setting girls soccer season alive Tuesday night with a comefrom-behind 2-1 win over Nazareth in a PIAA Class 4A openinground match at Owen J. Roberts’ Wildcat Stadium. Sam Goffice scored twice off passes from Camilla Kuever in a little over a minute midway through the second half to send the Bears (23-2) to a state quarterfinal Saturday at a time and place to be determined against North Allegheny, a 1-0 winner over Cumberland Valley.

The District 1 runner-up Bears (23-2), who hold the program record for wins in a season, fell behind when Ana Vera scored for the District 11 runner-up Eagles (12-10) off a pass from Abigail James in the 27th minute. But Boyertown created several good scoring opportunities early in the second half and eventually evened the score with 22:23 to go. Then Goffice, who missed the district final with an injury, put the Bears

on top just 1:19 later with a blast from the left wing off the hands of the diving goalkeeper.

Nazareth scored on a break down the middle when James passed to Vera, whose long lob went off the hands of keeper Matti Gallagher and fell into the goal.

Other than that, the Bears controlled much of the play and finished with a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal and 6-1 lead in corner kicks.

Boyertown, making its second state appearance in program history, advanced to the quarterfinals in 2013 and lost on penalty kicks.
