Outcomes mixed in Upper Perk races

Unofficial results from Montgomery County painted a mixed picture for elections in the Upper Perkiomen Valley.

Upper Perkiomen School Board

Two candidates running on only the Republican line, including one incumbent, were the losing candidates in Tuesday’s school board race for five open seats.

The three candidates running on both the Republican and Democratic lines were the top vote-getters.

Incumbent Mike Elliott took first with 3,368. Second was incumbent Judy Maginnis, who earned 3,355 votes.

Peg Pennepacke­r, also on both ballot lines, came in third with 3,191 votes.

The two remaining seats went to the two candidates running on only the Democratic line: Dana Hipszer with 2,180 and Thomas Manion, with 2,146.

Incumbent Raeann

Hofkin, came in sixth with 2,107 votes and Ed Walczak came in last with 2,073 votes.

East Greenville

The borough council race featured five candidates running for three open seats with four-year terms.

Two Democratic challenger­s Melissa Leinbach and Alison Palmer were the two top vote-getters. Leinbach won 260 votes and Palmer 234 votes, according to unofficial results.

The other two seats were won by Republican incumbents Doug Criddle and John D. Dingler.w

Criddle took 238 votes and Dingler 225.

Republicwa­n John F. McCalliste­r, the only loser in the race, was just two votes behind Dingler with 223 votes.

Pennsburg

The council contest here featured two separate races.

In one race, four candidates sought three seats with four-year terms. In the other race, three candidates sought two open seats with two-year terms.

• The winners of the fourterm terms were Bob Seville, Margaret Hange, who appeared on both the Republican and Democratic lines, and Patrick M. Suter, who appeared on the Democratic line.

Seville won 467 votes; Hange 408 and Suter, 289 votes.

Seville and Suter are both incumbents.

The fourth candidate, Kristopher G. Kirkwood, was also an incumbent, running on only the Republican line. He was defeated with only 256 votes to his name.

• In the race for the seats with two-year terms, Wayne Stevens, who ran on both ballot lines, was the top voter-getter with 416 votes.

Incumbent Republican Joan M. Weider eked out a two-vote victory, taking 268 votes to Democrat Larry Hange’s 266 votes.

Upper Hanover

In the race for a single supervisor seat with a six-yearterm, Republican Timothy Woodward was the victor with 1,080 votes, according to unofficial results.

Democrat LaBrea Huff trailed with 644 votes.
