CB West holds off S-F boys, 56-53

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 56, SPRINGFORD 53 >> The Rams’ big fourth quarter rally fell short as the Bucks went 2-0 in the PAC/SOL Challenge Saturday at Perkiomen Valley.

Zack Skrocki scored 10 of his 13 points in the final frame, but the 13-point deficit was too large to overcome. Pat Kovaleski (14) and Tre Medearis (10) also scored in double figures for SF.

Owen Haney scored 11 for CB West. ACADEMY PARK 86, POTTSGROVE 50>> Academy Park’s Jalen Cassidy torched the Falcons with eight 3-pointers and a game-high 33 points on the final day of the Pottsgrove tournament.

Zion Dyches scored 17 to lead Pottsgrove while Nick Stringer added 10. CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 45, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 33 >> The Vikings were stifled by their Suburban One League foe Friday in the PAC/SOL challenge at CB West.

Tyler Lapetina scored seven points followed by Aidan Gansz with six points. The Bucks outscored PV by seven at the line. PHOENIXVIL­LE 73, KENNETT 59 >> The Phantoms rallied in the second half with some strong freethrow shooting to win their opener.

Senior guard Steven Hamilton scored 19 points and was 14-for14 from the line as part of Phoenixvil­le’s 27-for-31 night.

Mike Memmo had 18 points while Will Allain added 12.

Girls basketball

CARDINAL O’HARA 57, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 39 >> The Vikings dropped to 0-2 with a loss to Cardinal O’Hara, a PIAA quarterfin­alist a year ago. Uhmaris Baker was the leading scorer for the Lady Lions with 11 points including three 3-poiners. Sam Randazzo came from the bench to contribute 9 points for Cardinal O’Hara. Perkiomen Valley’s Emma Miley was leading scorer for her team and the game with 13 points. POTTSGROVE 55, READING 50 >> Riley Simon’s 15 points paced the hosts Falcons in a win Friday in the Pottsgrove Tip-off Tournament.

After trailing 10-8 after the first quarter, the Falcons held leads of 24-18 at halftime and 40-30 after three quarters before holding off Reading in the fourth.

Sierra Potts added nine for Pottsgrove, all of which came on three 3-point shots. Sydney Mowery added eight points and Justine Fretz and Summer Walker both contribute­d seven points in the winning cause. HILL SCHOOL 57, PRINCETON

DAY 33 >> Cynthia Williams finished with 21 points and Aine Farrell added 12 points. Friday to lead Hill into the Hill Girls’ Basketball Tournament championsh­ip game.

In their first home game of the season, the Blues raced out to an 8-0 advantage, highlighte­d by a steal and layup by Farrell and a three-pointer by freshman Courtney Bodolus. Williams scored nine points in the first quarter as Hill pushed its lead to 23-8, and she added seven more in the second to put Hill ahead 40-13 at halftime. PHOENIXVIL­LE 58, CHESTER 7>> The Phantoms won by blowout in their finale at the Phoenixvil­le tournament.

Wrestling

CEDAR CREST DUALS >> Phoenixvil­le went 2-1 and placed third as a team at the Cedar Crest Duals Saturday.

Phoenixvil­le defeated Cedar Crest 54-21, fell to Abington 41-33 in the semifinals and topped La Salle 36-34 for third place.

Phantoms leaders were Dave Polanki (3-0 at 182/196,) Owen Koch (3-0 at 160/170), Antonio Valenteen (3-0 at 120), Anthony Stevenson (2-1 at 170/182), Angelo Franzone (2-0 at 160) and Mason Koch (30).
