S-F girls fall to Texas state champs

ARGYLE (TEXAS) 51, SPRING-FORD 45 >> The Rams were unable to maintain an early lead and lost to the five-time defending Texas state champions on the second day of the KSA Classic Friday at Walt Disney World.

Lucy Olsen and Emily Tiffan each had 10 points to lead Spring-Ford, which saw a 10-8 first-quarter lead reversed to reversed to a 24-17 halftime deficit. It was done in by Argyle’s Rhylee McKinney, a commit to Southern Methodist University who hit for a game-high 29 points, and a 30-22 scoring deficit in the middle frames. PHOENIXVIL­LE 42, NORRISTOWN 34 >> Angelina Williams and Nailah Green combined for 34 points to key the Phantoms in Thursday’s PAC divisional crossover game with the Eagles.

Williams led the way with 19 points, Green adding another 15. A 12-8 fourth quarter expanded Phoenixvil­le’s 30-26 lead after three quarters. BOYERTOWN 59, UPPER MERION 5 >> The Bears erupted for 23 points in the first quarter Thursday to get the easy win over the Vikings in their PAC divisional crossover game.

Julia Smith scored 12 of her gamehigh 15 points in the opening frame. The Bear defense blanked UM in the first and third quarters. METHACTON 61, UPPER PERKIOMEN 12 >> Sydney Tornetta and Nicole Timko shared game scoring honors for the Warriors Thursday, fueling their run over the Indians in PAC divisional crossover action.

Tornetta and Timko each hit for 16 points, Tornetta adding seven rebounds. Cassidy Kropp chipped in with 10 points and five steals for a Methacton lineup that bolted to a 45-8 halftime lead against a UP unit led by Hannah Keeney’s six markers. OWEN J. ROBERTS 78, POTTSTOWN 28 >> Olivia LeClaire hit the nets for 24 points, heading a quartet of doublefigu­re scorers that led the Wildcats’ roll over the Trojans in Thursday’s PAC divisional crossover game.

LeClaire got 16 of her points in OJR’s 59-point first half. Avery White added 16, Hannah Clay 12 and Maddi Koury 10 to Roberts’ offense, with Trinell Watson scoring 11 for Pottstown. SCHUYLKILL VALLEY 55, DANIEL BOONE 40>> The Blazers got a 25-point outing from Allyson Velez, but they couldn’t parlay it into a victory over the Panthers

in Thursday’s Berks Conference contest.

Madison Ziska had 14 points, Abigayle White 14, Cassidy Rittenhous­e 12 and Abigail Rea 10 for Schuylkill Valley.

EPISCOPAL AC. 43, HILL SCHOOL 33 >> Despite a dominant performanc­e by center Cynthia Williams, the Blues fell to Episcopal Academy, 43-33, in nonleague play Thursday.

Williams had a game-high 21 points, including all 13 of the Hill’s second-quarter points. During that frame, Williams converted a trio of hard-earned three-point plays as her effort helped whittle a 10-point first quarter deficit to four points by halftime.

Boys basketball

POTTSTOWN 67, OWEN J. ROBERTS 59 >> Robert Burress followed a 20-point outing Tuesday with team-high 19 points Thursday in the Trojans’ PAC crossover win over the Wildcats.

OJR’s Jalen Lucas matched Burress with a game-high 19 points, and Brody Bolyn (12) and Will Hurlock (11) joined him in double figures. Donovan Towson added 14 for Pottstown with Tre’ Bass and Wilchon Seward both adding nine.
