Upper Perk captures PAC Frontier title

SPRING-FORD 57, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 4>> The Rams locked up the Pioneer Athletic Conference team title with Wednesday’s win over the Vikings.

The Rams won all but one match, including pins from John Kaputa (285), Zach Needles (138), Jack McGill (152) and Joey Milano (182). Sean Brogan (220), Quinn Smith (120) and Alex Johns (145) won by major decision.

Spring-Ford ran the table in the PAC Liberty Division (5-0) and were the team champions of the PAC Individual­s Championsh­ips on Jan. 11.

Kelly Kakos picked up PV’s only victory with a major decision at 126 pounds.

BOYERTOWN 57, NORRISTOWN 13 >> The Bears picked up seven pins in a PAC Liberty match Wednesday.

Chris Goggin (160), Jimmy Sinclair (182), Anthony Bauer (220) secured early pins for Boyertown as it stormed out to a 26-0 lead. Luke Heimbach (106), Julien Maldonado (113), Teague Miller (120) and Christian Wise (138) followed with falls later on to seal the win.

Isaiah Tucker (132) won by major decision, Jared Rubin (126) won by decision and Tijear Brittingha­m (285) won by forfeit for Norristown.

OWEN J. ROBERTS 58, METHACTON 18 >> In a match with nine pins, the Wildcats came away with six of them on the way to a PAC Liberty win.

Tommy Dempsey (182), Dylan Bauer (195), Francis Mccoy (220), Jaden Viti (285), Josh Jackson (120) and Connor Leister (138) had pins for OJR.

Roman Moser (170), Jake Maestrale (113) and Kibwe McNair (145) scored all of Methacton’s points on falls. POTTSGROVE 51, PHOENIXVIL­LE 24 >> Aided by four forfeits and four pins, the Falcons claimed Wednesday’s PAC Frontier match over the Phantoms.

Josh Cerrito (145), Avery Shivak (195), Zachary Van Horn (220) and Manny Allen (285) secured falls for the Falcons, while Matt Bechtel (138) picked up a 7-6 decision over Phoenixvil­le’s John Volpe.

Anthony Stevenson (170) had Phoenixvil­le’s lone pin, with Angelo Franzone (152), Owen Koch (160) and David Polanki (182) picking up decisions for the Phantoms.

Boys Basketball

HILL SCHOOL 64, HUN SCHOOL 59 (OT) >> Helped by a 20-point, 10-assist performanc­e by Zach Lezanic, the Blues capped off a perfect 5-0 MAPL regular season with Wednesday overtime win.

Gabe Dorsey followed Lezanic with 15 points, Daniel Nixon added nine, and Toni Buchmann and Caleb Dorsey both chipped in with eight in the victory.

Hill will be the top seed in the MAPL tournament, which begins Feb. 7-9 at Hill.

Girls Basketball

HUN SCHOOL 67, HILL SCHOOL 60>> The Hun School didn’t attempt a free throw until the second half, but it made eight of nine in the fourth quarter to edge the Blues in a tight MAPL contest Wednesday.

Junior center Cynthia Williams, scored a gamehigh 24 points, and senior Eve Nealon followed with 17 points for Hill, which trailed by four points entering the fourth quarter.

Boys Swimming

SPRING-FORD 92, POPE JOHN PAUL II 46 >> Cory and Sean Laing headed the list of five Rams winning events during Wednesday’s PAC meet with the Golden Panthers.

Cory headed the 200 free and Sean the 200 IM, joined by Sam Thomas (50 free),

Kaito Tsumita (100 fly), Sean Pham (100 free) and Luke McKenna (500 free). Scoring firsts for PJP were Hugh Trexler (100 back) and Josh Murtaugh (100 breast).

Girls Swimming

SPRING-FORD 83, POPE JOHN PAUL II 59 >> The Rams got wins from six individual­s during Wednesday’s PAC meet with the Golden Panthers.

Allison DeSante (200 free), Emma Thomas (200 IM), Alyssa DeFlavia (50 free), Meredith Ruckelshau­s (100 fly), Hadley Davis (100 free) and Anna Curran (500 free) scored firsts for Spring-Ford. Winning events for PJP were Maggie Sullivan (100 back) and Kate Kessler (100 breast).
