Wawa customers hungry for more variety at dinner may soon have some new options.

The Delaware County-based convenience store chain is piloting several dinner items, including hamburgers, waffle fries and breaded chicken sandwiches at six locations throughout the chain.

“Wawa is always testing new products and offers to ensure we’re meeting our customers evolving tastes and demands,” Lori Bruce, public relations manager for Wawa replied in an emailed response to questions. The pilot is “part of a larger dinner platform we are testing,” she added.

Bruce offered no additional details about the pilot in terms of locations or time frame, adding in her response that the products are in a “testing phase and can evolve.”

However, the Philadelphia Business Journal reports that one of the stores testing the new options is the Wawa located at 535 Horsham Road in Horsham, where the items are available after 4 p.m.

The Philadelphia Business Journal reports the sandwiches are served on brioche buns, with burger toppings that include bacon, tomato, pickles, cheddar cheese, lettuce and garlic aioli. At the Horsham store, the sandwiches sell for $5.49, while the waffle fries sell for $1.99 the publication reports.

In her emailed response to MediaNews Group, Bruce indicated that more “formal announcements” about the new offering will be coming.

Wawa has more than 850 convenience retail stores in six states including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Florida, as well as Washington, D.C.
