6 Berks establishments cited for liquor law violations
The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement recently announced citations were issued to six establishments in Berks County.
The following alleged violations were cited by liquor control officers:
• Laureldale Athletic Association, 1610 Nolan St., Laureldale: On Oct. 18 and 31, sold alcoholic beverages to nonmembers in violation of the Liquor Code; for the two-year-period preceding Dec. 9, failed to maintain complete and truthful records covering operation of the licensed business concerning the Local Option Small Games of Chance Act; for the one-year period preceding Dec. 9, failed to adhere to the organization’s constitution and/or bylaws, in violation of Liquor Control Board regulations.
• Union Fire Company
No. 1 of Kulptown, 1082 Chestnut St., Union Township: On Jan. 16, failed to return records to the licensed premise within 24 hours of request by the enforcement bureau.
• GNA Restaurant and Pizzeria, 421 Penn Ave. West Reading: On several dates between Feb. 1, 2019, and Jan. 15, 2020, failed to clean beer-dispensing system faucets at least once every seven days in violation of LCB regulations.
• Union House, 1803 S.
Main St., Bechtelsville: On Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, permitted patrons to remain on the licensed premises more than 30 minutes after the required cessation of alcoholserving.
• Birdsboro Sportsmen’s Club Inc., 227 N. Furnace St., Birdsboro: Between Sept. 17 and Jan. 18, failed to have its LCB-approved manager complete RAMP (Responsible Alcohol Management Program) training within 180 days of appointment.
• Pinnacle Ridge LLC, 407
Old Route 22, Greenwich Township: On Aug. 20, offered and/or gave things of value as an inducement to purchase alcoholic beverages in violation of the Liquor Code; on Sept. 3, stored alcoholic beverages on premises not covered by the license and on Sept. 28, sold alcoholic beverages on the unlicensed premises; on Aug. 20, failed to keep records on the licensed premises; On Sept. 2, failed to maintain record in conformity to provisions of the Liquor
Code; on Sept. 3, failed to return record to the licensed establishment within 24 hours of a request by the enforcement board; on July 12, its board-approved satellite location sold alcoholic products not produced by a Pennsylvania-licensed manufacturer, in violation of the Liquor Code.
Charges will be brought before an administrative law judge, who can levy a fine of $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses or up to $5,000 for more serious charges.
