For those of you who are dog owners, get physical and take in some of the gorgeous foliage that soon awaits us.

With crisp mornings taunting us that fall is just around the corner, you might be experiencing an extra jump in your step accompanied by some renewed energy to explore the great outdoors.

For those of you who are dog owners or are on the cusp of getting one, they can serve as a great excuse to get physical and take in some of the gorgeous foliage that soon awaits us.

While you may have some favorite destinations with your dog that are a part of your routine or you might prefer to just head out your front door for a brisk walk with them, this is a great time of year to get out and explore some dog-friendly spots you haven’t yet ventured to.

Aside from getting some exercise, it will give you and your dog the opportunity to relish in the changing of the seasons.

For Liane Raciti of Warwick Township, Chester County, a married mom of three and a dog lover, she finds that their family dogs provide a great excuse to get the kids out of the house to move their bodies.

“I find that I send the kids out to walk the dogs a lot to get them outside,” Raciti said. “It keeps them from sitting or if they are bored, and once they’re outside walking them they enjoy it.”

Typically she gives them a choice and they usually opt to spend time with the dogs.

“I give them an option to clean their room or walk the dogs,” she said.

As for Raciti, when she meets up with a friend who has their dog along, she opts to take Anya, her Shepherd Mastiff mix. She likes to head to Warwick Park in Warwick Township, Chester County.

“I take her because she’s big and can handle the trails and swimming in the water,” Raciti said.

Raciti enjoys her time with Anya at Warwick Park because it’s very dog-friendly.

“It’s a gorgeous park and there are lots of dogs there, she said.

Whether heading to a local park or nature trail, there is no question that dogs can motivate their owners to get their bodies moving. Raciti, who is also the owner of Aberdeen Kennels, New Hanover Township, Montgomery

County, sees that a lot of her customers enjoy spending time with their dogs at Green Lane Park in northwestern Montgomery County.

“I think it is one of the most dog-friendly places,” she said. “The people in the area that are adventurers I know head there with their dogs.”

The pandemic has served as a good opportunity to spend more time outdoors and both dog owners, as well as their pets, can benefit from the extra physical activity.

“I see more people walking their dogs since the COVID thing,” Raciti said. “It’s like they are coming out of the woodwork.”
