Daniel A. Leister

Daniel A. Leister, 73, of Sewickley, formerly of Boyertown, was taken home by his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from Allegheny General Hospital. Born in Colebrookdale Township on September 5, 1947, he was the second youngest of 13 children born to the late Ammon and Alice (Youse) Leister. Married 53 years to his forever love, Jean (Steltz); loving father of Monica Leister, Brent Leister (Susan), and Shannon Hauber (Edward); cherished “Grandpa” and “Pappy” to Halley Leister (Zach), Christina and Matthew Leister; brother of Pauline, Charles, Dorothy, Elizabeth, Barry, Kerry and the late Carl, Vivian, Paul, Nancy, Rodman, and Dallas. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in Thailand. He worked 23 years as a Senior Application Engineer for Calgon Carbon. Daniel was a ’73 Graduate of The Pennsylvania State University and was an avid Penn State Sports Fan (especially football), he was a member of the Penn State Nittany Lion Club and the Greater Allegheny Penn State Alumni Association. He was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Daniel also loved to travel, as well as tend to his garden. He enjoyed being Scout Master for his son’s Boy Scout Troop #243. He was a family man who adored his wife, children, and grandchildren. Our hearts are incredibly sad, and we will miss him very much. A private family visitation will be held at Copeland’s followed by burial at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with Military Honors.
