Daniel Boone had a pair of champions in JT Hogan and Tucker Hogan Saturday at the District 3 Class 3A Section 1 tournament at Gov. Mifflin Intermediate School.

JT Hogan took the top spot at 138 pounds by pinning Cocalico’s Aiden Swann in 1:21 in the final. Tucker Hogan was champion at 172 with a 3-1 decision of Exeter’s John Miller.

Three Blazers placed second as Gavin Richard (120) and Stephen Spitko (126) suffered one-point setbacks to Wilson’s Kelvin Rodriguez and Dominic Jurado, respectively. Colin Leahy fell in the 285 final to Gardne Spot’s Dustin Swanson.

Only two wrestlers from each weight class advance to next weekend’s South Central 3A Regional at Spring Grove High School.

Matches for ‘true second place’ were contested between the finals loser and third-place finisher.

Richard topped Octorara’s Tyler Walton 11-5 to advance while Spitko and Leahy advanced by previously topping the third-place wrestler.

DISTRICT 1⁄12 CLASS 2A TOURNAMENT » Pope John Paul II’s Alan Alexander was the champion at 152 Saturday at Faith Christian.

Alexander (8-1) needed just one win – a technical fall of Faith’s Jacob Kurlak – to take the title. He won the final via forfeit from Conwell-Egan’s Dylan Culver.

PJP’s other entrant, Jake Rau, fell in the true second match to Conwell-Egan’s Alberto Moreta 8-4 to miss out on advancing to next weekend’s Southeast AA Regional at Central Dauphin East.
