Hill’s Dorsey reaches 1,000 in Millbrook series

Hill School senior Gabe Dorsey needed 21 points to reach the 1,000-point milestone entering this weekend’s three-game series at Millbrook School (N.Y.).

Dorsey made sure he got the achievemen­t accomplish­ed right away, scoring 22 points in a 91-81 win to become just the third Hill basketball player to reach 1,000 points in the past two decades. He became the first Blues basketball player to accomplish the feat since Deanna Mayza in 2013 and the first Hill boys hooper since Josh Heyliger in 2012.

The Blues swept the threegame series against Millbrook, winning Game 2 on Saturday 83-47 and Game 3 on Sunday 81-41.

Along with Dorsey’s big night in Game 1, Evin Timochenko (2021) added 13 points and 15 rebounds, and Rap Buivydas (2021) added 16 points and eight boards in the Game 1 win. Gabe Moss (2022) joined them in double figures with 11 points and six rebounds, while Anthony Wise (2022) chipped in nine points, seven assists and three steals.

Luke Rasmussen (2023) led a quartet of double-figure scorers in Game 2 with 17 points on five 3-point shots. Moss followed with 14 points, five rebounds and three blocks. Wise and Josh Cameron (2023) both had 10 points with Wise adding five rebounds, three assists and Cameron rounding out his stat line with 10 board and four assists.

Also in Game 2, Buivydas collected nine points and eight rebounds. A night after collecting seven points, seven rebounds, Trey Hicks (2021) grabbed nine boards. Dorsey tallied eight rebounds and four assists in the Game 2 win.

The Blues’ future was on display in Game 3 with returners Cameron, Wise and Moss leading the charge. Cameron knocked down five 3s on the way to a gamhigh 21 points, Wise also hit five long balls from 17 points, and Moss finished with 14 points.
