John A. Calvecchio
John A. Calvecchio, 97, of Phoenixville, PA, formerly of Lansdowne, PA died December 11, 2021 at Promedica in King of Prussia.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, John and his wife Eleanor had been longtime residents of Lansdowne prior to moving to Phoenixville 21 years ago.
John was a graduate of Overbrook High School, Class of 1940. He was retired from USPS in Lansdowne, PA. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force in World War II, receiving the Victory
Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the American Campaign Medal.
John was extremely active in the communities where he lived, especially Knights of Columbus Council 1374 Phoenixville, the Holy Name Society, American Legion Post 65, Lansdowne, Boy Scout Troop Leader, Concerned Citizens of William Penn School District, Friends of the Lansdowne Public Library, Member of APWU (American Postal Workers Union), Member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Charlestown Township Election Committee,
Eucharistic Minister at St. Ann’s Church and a member of the Legion of Mary.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years Eleanor (nee Mack) Calvecchio and his sons
John, Jr. (Roseanne), Thomas (Susan) and David Calvecchio.
He is survived by his children Joanne (the late Steven) Alexander, Ellen (Douglas) Behrle, Joseph (Donna) Calvecchio, 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday Evening 5-7 PM at St. Ann Chapel, 604 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460
and also Tuesday Morning 9-10 AM at St. Philomena Church, 41 E. Baltimore Avenue, Lansdowne, PA 19050, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
