Man found guilty of selling meth, Xanax in Phoenixville
WEST CHESTER » A Chester County jury found Damone Jones, 24, of Drexel Hill, guilty of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy to deliver, and related charges.
“Phoenixville is safer with Damone Jones, a drug peddler, off the streets. We thank the Phoenixville Police Department for their diligent work to protect our community from this poison,” said Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan.
On March 15, 2021, an undercover agent texted Jones about buying one ounce of methamphetamine and two Percocet pills from him. While negotiating the delivery, Jones asked if he needed “to come strapped” — bring a firearm for protection. Jones enlisted his friend, Zaahir Young, 24, of Philadelphia, to drive him to Phoenixville.
Young brought with him a semi-automatic firearm, which he was legally permitted to carry, with an extended magazine and one bullet in the chamber. While on the way there, Jones texted the undercover agent to say he didn’t bring the Percocet but had Xanax available to buy.
When Jones and Young arrived at the 500 block of Bridge Street in Phoenixville — the agreed-upon location — both men were arrested by police. Investigators found Jones in possession of methamphetamine, counterfeit Xanax, and a cellphone. Young possessed marijuana, cash, a digital scale, two cellphones, and a 9mm handgun.
Young was found guilty of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jones and Young will be sentenced later.
Phoenixville Police investigated. Assistant District Attorney Kaitlyn Macaulay and William Buckman were the assigned prosecutors.
