A 71-year-old West Chester woman was gored by a bull bison in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, officials said.

The woman, whose name was not released, and her daughter inadvertently approached the bison as they returned to their vehicle at a trailhead near Storm

Point at Yellowstone Lake on Wednesday, park officials said in a release.

The bison charged, and the woman suffered what officials said were non-lifethreatening injuries. She was taken to West Park Hospital in Cody, Wyo.

Officials said this was the third reported incident involving a bison and a visitor this year.

On June 27, a 34-yearold man from Colorado Springs, Colo., was gored by a bull bison near Giant Geyser at Old Faithful.

The man was walking with his family on a boardwalk when the bison charged the group, officials said. The family did not leave the area, and the bison continued to charge and gored the man, who suffered an arm injury and was taken to a hospital, officials said.

On May 30, a 25-year-old woman from Grove City, Ohio, approached a bison to within 10 feet. Two other people also were within 25 yards of the same bison.

Officials noted park regulations require visitors to stay more than 25 yards away from bison.

As the bison walked near a boardwalk at Black Sand Basin north of Old Faithful, the woman approached the bison. The bison gored the woman and tossed her 10 feet into the air. She suffered a puncture wound and other injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Officials said the incidents remain under investigation.
