Singleton, Allen named co-offensive MVPs
Running backs Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen shared Penn State’s Most Valuable Offensive Player award Sunday at the annual State College Quarterback Club banquet.
Safety Ji’Ayir Brown was named the overall team MVP and junior cornerback Joey Porter Jr. was selected the Most Valuable Defensive Player.
Singleton, the former Gov. Mifflin star, has carried 149 times for 941 yards and 10 touchdowns, a school record for a freshman. He also has 11 catches for 85 yards and one TD and has 12 kickoff returns for 310 yards and one score.
Allen has rushed 156 times for 830 yards and nine touchdowns and has 17 receptions for 172 yards and one TD.
Brown leads the Nittany Lions with 66 tackles and has 5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, three interceptions, three pass break-ups, five quarterback hurries, one fumble recovery and two forced fumbles.
Porter has announced that he will skip his final year of eligibility to declare for the 2023 NFL draft. A projected first-round draft pick, he had 11 pass breakups, one fumble recovery and one quarterback hurry. He will not play in the Rose Bowl against Utah on Jan. 2.
Former Wilson and Warwick player Grayson Kline was one of the recipients of the State College Quarterback Club Award.

Bob Mitinger Memorial Award (ultimate teammate): TE Brenton Strange and LB Curtis Jacobs.
