The Clinic in Phoenixville announces new name: Phoenixville Free Clinic
For over 20 years, The Clinic in Phoenixville, which provides free medical care to uninsured and underserved individuals, has consistently looked for opportunities to enhance patient care, expand its services, and strengthen its presence as a valuable community resource.
With that in mind, the organization has decided to change its name to Phoenixville Free Clinic to better reflect its mission, location, and the individuals it serves.
“In our pursuit of extending support to those in need, we embarked on a strategic planning process, engaging in conversations with our partners, staff, volunteers, and community members,” says board Chairman Dr. Mark Delowery. “The goal was to gain a better understanding of the community’s needs and establish a sustainable path for future growth. Through these discussions, we recognized the importance of reevaluating our branding to enhance awareness and better serve our community.”
It was this comprehensive process that led them to the name of Phoenixville Free Clinic — a new name that celebrates the current identity of the clinic but also honors its decades-long service to the Phoenixville community.
“At the heart of our new name lies the mission to provide compassionate and caring medical care — a truth that resonated when The Clinic was established over twenty years ago, remains true today, and will continue to be true for years to come,” said Executive Director Christi Seidel.
Phoenixville Free Clinic began in 2001 as the dream of two women, Dr. Lorna Stuart and The Rev. Marie Swayze, when they saw the need for accessible, quality healthcare for their uninsured neighbors in the Greater Phoenixville community.
The clinic provides primary and specialty care, lab testing, medications, and diagnostic testing to those who have nowhere else to turn for medical care. Since opening its doors, it has provided nearly 175,000 patient visits to underserved members of the community. This year, it introduced the Phoenixville Behavioral Health Program, which offers vital ongoing mental and behavioral health services to uninsured and at-risk individuals.
