D. Scott Bush, 76, of Lower Pottsgrove, PA, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2024, at Pottstown Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elaine “Sue” (Teasdale) Bush, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage until her passing on January 3, 2018.

Born in Pottstown, PA, on June 12, 1947, Scott was the son of the late C. Roy Bush and Elvira V. (Huzzard) Bush.

Scott graduated from Pottstown High School in 1965 and attended Millersvil­le University. Scott spent his career in sales including real estate, over 25 years as a freight salesman, and finally as a car salesman at Piazza Honda. Scott found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life. A die-hard fan of Philadelph­ia sports, he could often be found cheering on the Phillies, Eagles, and Sixers, as well as rooting for the Penn State Nittany Lions and the East Stroudsbur­g Warriors football teams. Off the field, Scott spent countless hours umpiring baseball and as a basketball referee for 30 years, embodying his love for the games. Scott spent many years coaching his daughters slow pitch softball team, even taking them to states. Scott was an extremely talented lefthanded scratch golfer who won many tournament­s; he proudly held the course record at Gilbertsvi­lle Golf Club since 1999. His leisure time was filled with activities like fishing and testing his luck at the slot machines during his trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas. However, amidst all his hobbies, nothing compared to the warmth and happiness he felt when surrounded by his family, especially his cherished grandchild­ren. He will be deeply missed by all who had the opportunit­y to know him.

Scott is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Traci (& Greg) Evans and Judi “JJ” (& Arthur) Peterson; his grandchild­ren, Seth Evans, Holli Evans, Ali (& Austin) King, Brady (& Kimberly Purretta) Durnan, and Matthew (& Bridgette) Peterson; his great-grandson, Daniel Finn; his brother, James (& Joanne) Bush; his niece and nephews, Melissa Bush, Christophe­r Bush, and Adam Bush; his brothers-inlaw, Richard (& Judi) Teasdale and William (& Sarah) Teasdale; many other nieces and nephews; and his cats, Shadow, Smokey, and Bandit.

To honor Scott, the family invites you to attend wearing casual attire. Whether it’s your favorite sports jersey, or mismatched clothes, including flannel PJ pants, which was a common and endearing style for Scott, your presence in attire that celebrates his spirit is appreciate­d. Dallas Cowboys attire prohibited.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons are kindly welcomed to either the Montgomery County SPCA or the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, both of which held a special place in Scott’s heart.
