City man facing extradition to Maine
MIDDLETOWN >> A 35-year-old Middletown man must return to Maine after being arrested Saturday.
Rudolph Louis Durazzo Jr. was stopped by Middletown police on suspicion of engaging in sales of narcotics; during the course of the detainment, police discovered that Durazzo was wanted in Maine on a drug trafficking warrant.
The arresting officer, who has “had past dealings with Mr. Durazzo,” according to the police report, noticed Durazzo “acting in a suspicious manner” on Ferry Street.
Police say that the officer was “aware that Durazzo may be involved in the sales of narcotics in the city north-end,” and that he observed Durazzo engage in a possible
drug transaction Saturday.
The arresting officer then stopped Durazzo at Main and Liberty streets and found no immediate evidence of drugs, but a query check revealed that Durazzo had an active warrant in Maine for “unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs,” a class B felony, according to police.
Durazzo was booked and processed at the Middletown Police Department as a “fugitive with a warrant;” he was held on a $250,000 surety bond, according to police. Durazzo waived his right to extradition Monday morning, according to court documents.
Durazzo has been convicted of several crimes in Middlesex County, including assault and forgery, according to court documents.
