Propane plan must be defeated
The Planning & Zoning Committee/Town Council has afforded J.J. Sullivan opportunities to install two 30,000- or 60,000-gallon propane tanks in one of two locations in our quiet country town, one on Ciro Road, the other in North Branford which has not been disclosed, maybe in your neighborhood. We, as a community must unite on Tuesday, Oct. 21, to prevent this from becoming an accident waiting to happen — possibly in your backyard where your children play. Mark your calendar to express your objection to this installation. If we fail to unite to fight this, it is possible it may be built in the Northford side of town as well. Go to You Tube to witness the damage done with such an explosion. We are not talking of Potato and Corn Festival fireworks, we are talking explosion. Property value possibly will depreciate, foundations damaged, increasing your homeowners insurance policies can result if we allow this to come into our town. Ask those who live near the Middletown gas explosion still trying to recuperate what they went through. Let’s not regret our decision not to fight for this once it has been given approval to be built where you live and where your children play. Do not wait. No one benefits with the installation of these potentially explosive vessels but the owner of the property and J.J. Sullivan. The number of objections is important and will determine the vote. This is not an Economic Development advantage to our town. Be at the Oct. 21 meeting.
