Bruce McCord; and the $250ShopRit­e gift card was awarded to Linda Kiley. All are Milford residents.

• More than 250childre­n from 12towns held a food drive for soup kitchens and pantries in Branford, Madison and Clinton. All were campers at Dustin’s Place, a Christian summer camp held annually at Killam’s Point in Branford. They collected nonperisha­ble food and placed it in hundreds of backpacks and tote bags they designed. They also included special arts and crafts items of their own design.

• Griffin Kulp of North Haven will have a principal role in the production of “The Crucible” at Dean College.

• Elizabeth Giovanniel­lo, a high school student from Orange, was awarded the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange scholarshi­p, which covers an academic year of study and cultural immersion in Germany. She is among 250student­s nationwide to receive this scholarshi­p, and is spending the 2014-2015academ­ic year living with a German host family and attending a local high school. She will be a U.S. “youth ambassador,” while participat­ing in educationa­l, cultural and political events.
