OLD LYME >> State Police identified aman found dead Wednesday in Old Lyme as a man whose last known addresswas in Middletown.

The victim was identified as Charles Carr, 43, with a last known address in the 400 block of High Street, state police said in a release Thursday.

He was found dead near a body of water in Old Lyme and police are investigating his death as untimely, state police spokeswoman Kelly Grant said.

The cause and manner of Carr’s death remained under investigation. Grant said based on initial investigation, it does not appear there is a criminal aspect to Carr’s death.

Grant said troopers responded at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to Osprey Road in Old Lyme, where a body had been found in nearby water.

They found the person, later identified as Carr, in the water near the shore. He was taken out and troopers looked for signs of life but didn’t find any.

Detectives from Central District Major Crime responded to the scene to assist with the investigation, as did the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Osprey Road is in the southern part of Old Lyme, near where the Black Hall River feeds into the Connecticut River and the Long Island Sound.

The man found in Old Lyme has the same name and birthdate as aman who has been missing for more than two months but Middletown police would not confirm Thursday that it was the same man.

Middletown police have said a man named Charles Carr was last seen by his girlfriend Nov. 25. City police had asked the public to help find him in December and again in January, saying that Carr was “endangered.”

Middletown police said Carr took prescription medications for medical issues and his family told authorities that he suffered from a bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. They said Carr had a suspended driver’s license and didn’t have access to a car but did have connections to Bridgeport.
