Library announces January exhibits

MIDDLETOWN >> The Russell Library in Middletown will present the following art exhibits in January.

• Paintings by Isabel Espinoza: Throughout January. Arts educator and artist Isabel Espinoza has been inspired by Jackson Pollack and other abstract painters.

Her work “reflects not only the constant duality that thrives within each one of us, but the duality that makes us conscious beings connecting the physical form with the abstract.”

Ms. Espinoza will be giving workshops on various arts topics over the next few months at the Russell Library.

• Drawings by Bozena Wojdyla: Bozena Wojdyla was born in Poland and immigrated to the USA in 1984.

While pursuing a lifelong career as a Chemist, Bozena fund inspiration and solace in her passion for art.

As a self- taught artist, her focus lies in pencil and charcoal drawing.

Most of her art work reflects her personal life experience as a mother unable to shield her children from life’s challenges.

• Peacocks! Jan. 7 to 31, in the Lobby Case. All sorts of sculptural media will be represented in this eclectic collection.

Peacocks are large, colorful pheasants known for their iridescent tails. They have been a favorite ornamental motif for millennia.

Their images could be found in early Christian tomb art. In India they were a symbol of royalty.

This collection is on loan from Jane and Ken Peacock.
