Woman charged in bank robbery
Police: More arrests could follow in theft at Route 81 branch
KILLINGWORTH >> A West Haven woman was charged this week for her alleged connection to a robbery of the TD Bank on Route 81 Thursday evening.
State police arrested Courtney M. Worthington, 29, of Elm Street, West Haven, and charged her with second-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny.
She is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail and is due back in Middletown Superior Court on Jan. 24.
On Thursday at just before 5 p.m., an hour before closing, officers from Troop F in Westbrook responded to a report of a bank robbery at the TD Bank branch at 184 Route 81, also known as Clinton Road, according to a press release from state police, who said the suspect did not display a weapon. A woman wearing a hoodie, scarf and sunglasses allegedly entered the bank and gave the teller a handwritten note demanding money.
Worthington allegedly walked out of the bank with cash and fled in a dark-colored sedan-type ve-
hicle, police said. No injuries were reported and authorities did not release the amount of money stolen.
Detectives from the Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crime Squad recovered evidence at the scene that led them to the Quality Inn in East Haven, where Worthington was arrested, state police said.
The investigation is continuing and additional arrests may be made, authorities said in the release.
