CLINTON » A 21-year-old New York man is facing identity theft charges after police say he illegally got personal information from seven different victims to and obtained credit cards in his name linking to their bank accounts.

Christopher Guevara, of Cross Avenue, Bronx, New York, was served with two separate arrests warrants Friday as he appeared in Meriden court in an unrelated but similar case, police said.

Guevara was charged with seven counts of thirddegree identity theft, more than 30 counts of illegal reproduction and use of credit cards, third-degree larceny and sixth-degree larceny.

The charges stem from incidents on Dec. 18 and Dec. 26 at the Clinton Crossings outlets, police said.

Det. Bryan Pellegrini initiated and investigation in December 2016 that determined Guevara was using illegally obtained personal information from over seven different victims throughout Connecticut, Clinton police said. Guevara used the personal information from the victims to produce credit cards in his name, but with the victim’s banking information, according to police.

Guevara is accused of using these cards to make numerous fraudulent purchases at the outlets. Police said they are not sure how Guevara obtained the victims’ personal information. They were able to identify him through video surveillance at the outlets, police said.

Guevara is being held in lieu of court-set cash bail of $125,000. He is scheduled to appear in Middletown court on Monday.
