Shoreline Arts Alliance presents exhibit
Mary Murphy Taylor’s photographs currently on display at town hall
GUILFORD » Shoreline Arts Alliance ArtSpace Series presents works by photographer/artist Mary Murphy-Taylor, on exhibit at Guilford Town Hall, July 12 to Sept.12.
Mary Murphy-Taylor is a freelance photographer/artist living and working in Branford and along the Shoreline. This is Mary’s first solo exhibit but has been a regular exhibitor in Group shows with The Photo Arts Collective, BACA’s Photography Show at The Academy, and has been included in several exhibits at the Branford Art Center Gallery.
The series of photographs being displayed at the Guilford Town Hall is titled “The Veil.” These photographs represent the thin line that exists between the worlds of the living and those that have passed into another world.
She is also working on producing another body of work based on following the Trump campaigns for 5 months and capturing both Trump’s supporters and the protesters. Mary collects antique and vintage photographs, produces a
new print and hand colors the new photo. She continues to investigate alternative processes and incorporating encaustic medium into her work. She shoots both digital and film but film is her passion and has been doing some work using a vintage Brownie Box Camera. Film allows her to spend hours in the darkroom creating the magical and mysterious images that you will see hanging on the walls of Town Hall. Mary is also a mixed media artist working on a series of collages and produces gourd art. She also holds membership in NAPA, the nationa Press Photographers Association.
There will be an artist’s reception on Wednesday, July 12 from 5 – 7:30 p.m. at Guilford Town Hall. Normal Town Hall hours for viewing the exhibit are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Town Hall is closed on weekends and holidays.
Shoreline ArtSpace Series is a collaboration of the Shoreline Arts Alliance and Guilford Town Hall that features rotating exhibits that celebrate the creativity, expression and voices of local visual artists. In addition to providing the artists with free gallery space to showcase their work, this project aims to encourage visitors to Guilford’s historic district and help familiarize people with the mission and programs of the Shoreline Arts Alliance.
Shoreline Arts Alliance’s mission is to educate, encourage, enrich and engage through arts, culture, heritage and humanities and make arts and culture a part of the daily fabric of community life.
