MedExpress Urgent Care offering free physicals

MIDDLETOWN — A national medical care provider opening this week is offering free sports physicals through March 13 to those 5 and older to celebrate its new Route 66 location.

MedExpress Urgent Care will begin seeing patients Wednesday at 752 Washington St. at its third in Connecticut, joining two existing centers in Derby and Meriden which opened last summer, according to a press release.

“Our new center in Middletown affirms our commitment to ensuring local patients, families and employees have access to patient-centered care that meets their needs and busy schedules,” Sarah Moses, Connecticut area manager said in a prepared statement. “We’re honored to join Middletown as a neighborhood health-care partner and look forward to providing high-quality, convenient and affordable care to the community — one patient at a time.”

The center will care for people of all ages, providing urgent care, employer health services and basic wellness and prevention services, according to the company.

Walk-in treatment is available for everyday illness and injury — including treatment for common winter ailments such as colds, flu, ear infections, upper respiratory infections, bronchitis and strep throat — as well as more advanced services such as X-rays, IVs, labs, minor surgery, stitches and treatment for broken bones, sprains and strains.

Local employers can use MedExpress for employer health services that include workers’ compensation, injury care, pre- and ongoing employment screenings, physicals and regulatory exams, the release continued. Basic wellness and prevention services include sports physicals, routine physicals and immunizations.

The Middletown location, which will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., will offer multiple exam rooms, a procedure room and X-ray suite. The center will be staffed by a full medical team that includes medical providers, radiologic technologists, nurses and customer service representatives.
