Yale rolls to win over Penn

The Yale men’s lacrosse team got goals from six different players en route to a 12-6 win over Penn on Saturday in New Haven.

Jack Tigh scored a teamhigh four goals as the Bulldogs (7-1, 3-0 Ivy League) won their second straight. Ben Reeves, Brendan Rooney and Joseph Sessa added two goals apiece, while Lucas Cotler and Jackson Morrill rounded out the scoring.

Penn (5-5, 1-2 Ivy League), got three goals from Adam Goldner.

Quinnipiac 14, Detroit Mercy 11: At Pontiac, Mich., Foster Cuomo had a career-high six goals and two assists as the Bobcats picked up a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference road win.

Jake Tomsik added three goals and two assists for the Bobcats 5-5 (2-0 MAAC).

Rivier 14, Albertus Magnus 6: at New Haven, Christophe­r Magnifico had two goals and two assists in the Falcons GNAC loss.

Albertus fell to 2-4 (0-2 GNAC).

BASEBALL

Yale 6-5, Brown 4-2: At New Haven, Simon Whiteman drove in a pair of runs in the second game as the Bulldogs swept an Ivy League doublehead­er.

Eric Brodkowitz allowed two runs over eight innings to pick up the win in game two for Yale (7-14, 4-2). In the first game, Alex Steigler and Teddy Hague had two hits apiece, while Cal Christofor­i added a pair of RBIs.

New Haven 5-9, AIC 3-3: At West Haven, Tom Walravenl, Jack Zagaja and James Myers had for four hits apiece as the Chargers picked up an NE-10 doublehead­er sweep.

Zagaja finished with four RBIs in the second game as New Haven improved to 20-3 (5-3 NE-10). Izaiya Mestre struck out eight in earning the win in the second game. Andrew Garcia had two RBIs in the first game.

SCSU 1-5, Pace 3-2: At Pleasantvi­lle, N.Y., Anthony Zambito and Tyler Criscuolo had two RBIs apiece in the second game as the Owls split an NE-10 doublehead­er.

Griffin Bremer allowed two runs over seven innings to earn the win for SCSU (16-10).

Quinnipiac 4-28, Saint Peter’s 0-2: Evan Vulgamore hit three home runs, Ben Gibson smashed a pair of three-run home runs, Frank Cascio hit his first collegiate home run and Liam Scafariell­o was 4for-4 with a homer and five RBIs as the Bobcats erupted for 28 runs in the second game of a doublehead­er sweep.

In the first game, Brandon Shileikis threw the team’s first complete game shutout of the season. Quinnipiac improved to 11-14.

SOFTBALL

Yale 5-4, Cornell 0-0: Francesca Casalino’s followed Terra Jepbak’s fourhit shutout with a three-hit shutout of her own as the Bulldogs swept an Ivy League doublehead­er.

Annie Tarte had two hits and Madison Sack had two RBIs for Yale (7-17, 4-4 Ivy League) in the opener. Carlin Hagmaier had a pair of hits in the second game.

Saint Rose 2, New Haven 1: At Albany, N.Y., Catherine Vaughn had the lone RBI for the Chargers in this NE-10 loss.

Kylie Stonebrake­r went the distance and struck out seven, but UNH fell to 11-12 (4-4 NE-10).

Quinnipiac 6-0, Rider 1-10: At Lawrencevi­lle, N.J., Rebecca Drake blasted a pinch-hit two-run home run and Casey Herzog went the distance as the Bobcats won the opener in a MAAC doublehead­er split.

Albertus Magnus 8-0, Lasell 2-0: At New Haven, Laura Anderson hit a pair of home runs as the Falcons won the opener in a GNAC doublehead­er split.

Daysia Wehder also homered for Albertus, which moved to 12-5 (5-1 GNAC).

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

New Haven 19, Molloy 12: At West Haven, Mackenzie Reh had five goals and two assists as the Chargers snapped a three-game skid with a non-conference win.

Jessica Mazliah added a season-high four goals for UNH, which improved to 4-4.

Quinnipiac 11, Manhattan 6: At Hamden, Allison Kuhn (four goals, one assist) and Brianna Fitzgerald (three goals, one assist) each had had tricks as the Bobcats picked up a MAAC win.

The Bobcats improved to 5-5 (1-1 MAAC).

Simmons 22, Albertus Magnus 6: At Boston, Courtney Cacace, Aida Sarr and Alix Hughes scored two goals apiece in the Falcons loss.

Albertus fell to 3-4 (0-3 GNAC).
