Realtor is an expert in antique homes, has four decades of experience
During the course of her 40-year career in real estate, Betsy Gorman has taken a keen interest in the preservation of older homes, and as such, she has focused a niche portion of her business on the sale of antique homes.
“Connecticut is filled with beautiful old homes; all of which have a story to tell,” Gorman said. “Adding a family’s story to that which has gone before it is an exciting prospect for many and plays a very rewarding role in the life of a Realtor.”
Gorman initially entered the real estate profession in 1978 when her two children were young. Upon taking a part-time job writing the advertising for a local real estate company, she obtained an insider’s view of the industry and decided that she wanted to become a Realtor herself.
According to Gorman, the most satisfying aspect of her career is the opportunity to build long-standing relationships with her clients.
“Being entwined with buyers and sellers at critical times in their lives is incredibly rewarding,” she said. “So many of these people have enriched my life enormously.”
Gorman also enjoys the challenges that she encounters in her role as a real estate professional, particularly those that arise due to her concentration on older homes.
“While many buyers admire an antique home and its charms, they can be fearful of unknown problems,” she said. “Fear of the unknown is often perceived as a negative and so it is important for the Realtor to have specific information readily available to allay those fears.”
Gorman credited her brokerage for their high level of support and overall contribution to her success. She explained that Press/ Cuozzo maintains a family-oriented atmosphere in its office and sets itself apart from other companies due to its superior customer service.
“Being physically present for each and every aspect of a transaction is the rule rather than the exception at Press/Cuozzo,” Gorman said. “This level of service has always set us apart and suits my personal style.”
