MIDDLETOWN — Middlesex Community College welcomed area business representatives to a complimentary business partner breakfast March 29, where over 60 companies, nonprofits and individuals came to campus to learn about cost-effective training solutions.

The MxCC Business Partnership Program offers customized training to private and public employers, according to a news release. A team of skilled instructors can work with local companies and organizations to design workshops and classes specific to the organizations’ and employees’ needs.

Common topics include building effective working relationships with teams, time management to boost productivity, and customer service, the release said.

“This event was an excellent introduction to the variety of resources available to businesses at MxCC. The fact that the faculty can also take training programs to the businesses that need them is an important and enticing feature,” Susan Beckman, economic development director of the Town of Old Saybrook said in a prepared statement.

“In addition, the facilities at the Center for New Media are particularly impressive with state-ofthe art studios and equipment. Previously, I was unaware that MxCC offers corporate media production services that have been used by area businesses and Fortune 500 companies.”

Companies looking to apply the latest technology to promote their businesses can consult with experienced faculty from MxCC’s Center for New Media, the statement continued. In hours, employees can learn the latest techniques in social media, online video production, digital graphics, among other topics.

The college can also provide workshops or training either at company facilities in addition to cutting-edge classrooms.

“The response from the business breakfast has been excellent,” Diane Bordonaro, director of noncredit programs at MxCC said in the release. She also organized the event on behalf of the college’s workforce development efforts.

“People were interested in many types of subjects: from human resources to YouTube training.”

Other groups represented at the event included Athena Health Care Systems, Covenant Village of Cromwell, Durham Manufacturing, Forest City Brewing, Guilford Savings Bank, Harvard Risk Management, and West Haven Community House Association.
