Broker turned her love of interior design into real estate career
Diana Hartman’s decision to enter the real estate industry after working for many years as an accomplished clothing and interior designer has served both her and her clients extraordinarily well.
“I loved working with the clients and thought it would be a natural fit to meld interior design with real estate,” she said. “I find it very exciting and love my combined career.”
Hartman explained that she had often felt compelled to combine the two professions into one; as she enjoyed the many challenges and rewards involved with the processes of buying, selling, constructing, renovating and designing a home.
“As a result of my design background, I am able to see past some of the flaws in a home and capitalize on the benefits,” she said. “I can also advise my clients as to what the improvements would approximately cost.”
After working in the field for several years as a Realtor, Hartman obtained her broker’s licenses in New York and Connecticut. She now serves clients in Manhattan and the towns along the Connecticut shoreline.
Hartman’s keen eye for design coupled with her exceptional ability to close a deal, provides a significant advantage over other brokers. She also possesses an innate ability to ensure every transaction is tailored specifically to each client.
“Most importantly, I have learned to listen to what people have to say in order to capitalize on their needs and wants,” she said.
Although her success has been due to her own talent and dedication, Hartman was quick to give credit to her brokerage for its contribution to her continued growth. Business: William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty

“William Pitt Sotheby’s is an amazing brokerage to work for, and I believe the exposure of our listings is the best in the industry,” she said.
Hartman explained that her greatest reward as an agent is to hear that she has helped her clients to find their ideal home.
“I take being a Realtor very seriously and believe the relationship can be very personal,” she said. “I love what I do and want all of my clients to love where they live.”
