Goodwin undergrads earn scholarships
MIDDLETOWN — Two city residents were recent recipients of nursing scholarships from the Wethersfield-Rocky Hill Professional Nurses Association.
Tatiana Shvydkova and Christabel Xolo-Pina, both attending Goodwin College, were among nine nursing students who received WRHPNA scholarships at its annual meeting May 1 at the Pitkin Community Center in Wethersfield, according to a news release.
For 75 years, the WRHPNA has been active in community service, including staffing the influenza and public health clinics for the Central CT Health District and overseeing a medical equipment loan closet for the Town of Wethersfield, the statement continued.
The group also provides continuing education and networking opportunities for professional nurses in the area and annually awards scholarships to support students preparing to become registered nurses; and for registered nurses to continue their education.
This year’s scholarships were made available through member donations and fundraising as well as a memorial gift from the family of the late Juliette Libby, formerly of Wethersfield; and gifts from the Alumnae Association of Hartford Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford and from the Central Connecticut Health District in Wethersfield, according to WRHPNA.
