Town joins Sustainable CT
DURHAM — The town’s Board of Selectmen recently passed a resolution to become a certified as a Sustainable CT community.
In a release, First Selectman Laura Francis put a call out to residents who would like to join the Clean Energy and Sustainability Task Force and staff on the Sustainability Team to contact her office.
Sustainable CT communities strive to be thriving, resilient, collaborative and forward-looking, according to the release. They build community and local economy, equitably promote the health and well-being of current and future residents, and respect the finite capacity of the natural environment.
The mission of Sustainable CT is to provide municipalities with a menu of coordinated, voluntary actions, to continually become more sustainable; to provide resources and tools to assist municipalities in implementing sustainability actions and advancing their programs for the benefit of all residents, the release continued.
It also works to certify and recognize municipalities for their ongoing sustainability achievements.
Volunteers are needed for working groups, administration, planning and coordination.
Sustainable CT is a voluntary certification program to recognize thriving and resilient Connecticut municipalities, according to its mission.
