Czapiga is Cromwell Woman of the Year
The Cromwell Junior Women’s Club announced that Janice Czapiga has been chosen to receive the 2018 Cromwell Woman of the Year Award. This annual award is presented to a female resident of Cromwell who has distinguished herself through contributions to the community.
Czapiga is a life long resident of Cromwell. She gives freely of time and talents and is a passionate volunteer whose dedication has always been focused on the betterment of our community and helping others.
Czapiga was instrumental in instituting the Annual Town Christmas Tree Lighting and Carol Sing ceremony. After 30 years, this continues to be a vibrant and growing community event. She has served and held leadership positions on the Board of Directors of community organizations such as Reilly Manor Senior Housing, Fox Glen and Playmates. A woman of great faith she is very involved at St. John Catholic Church, where she has served as Eucharistic Minister, helps organize the Church Auction, is a member of the Women’s Group and aids in programs which benefit various Human Services Department activities such as the Cromwell Food Pantry and St. Vincent de Paul soup kitchen.
A public reception in Czapiga’s honor will be held Saturday, May 27, 2 p.m. at St. John Catholic Church, Church Hall, 5 St. John Court, Cromwell. Czapiga will be presented with a proclamation by the town manager and mayor, and a plaque commemorating her achievement. The plaque will be hung and displayed in the Town Hall lobby for the rest of the year.
The Central Connecticut Community Women’s Club is a member club of the Connecticut Junior Women, Inc., which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to community service and to promoting common interests in education, philanthropy, public health, civic and fine arts. The Club organizes service projects and fund raising events, disbursing the proceeds to local and national charities and organizations.
