Traffic detours set for race, parade

EAST HAMPTON — The town reminds residents and visitors that traffic will be diverted Friday and Saturday for the Glorious Gallop 5K race and the Old Home Days parade.

The Old Home Days Glorious Gallop 5K road race will be held on Friday and is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m. It is expected to end at 8:15 p.m.

Motorists traveling in or around East Hampton should expect traffic delays. Roads affected by the race will include Main Street, north of Route 196 and all streets that intersect with Main Street in that section including Route 66; North Main Street and all streets that intersect with North Main Street; Lake Drive west of Mott Hill and all intersecti­ng streets in that same section; Mott Hill; and Seven Hills.

The Old Home Days Parade will be held on Saturday. It is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m. Note that traffic detours will begin at approximat­ely 10:30 a.m. The detour route will be sufficient­ly marked to aid motorists in their travels.

For those traveling from the east, the detour route will be: Route 66 and Lake Drive, follow Lake Drive take right onto Clark Hill Road, veer left on North Cone Road, left on Abbey, right on Cone Road, and right onto Route 66.

For those traveling from the west the detour begins at Route 66 and Cone Road; left onto Abbey Road; right onto North Cone Road; right onto Clark Hill Road; left onto Lake Drive (which turns into Staeth Drive), follow and turn left onto Route 66.
