Bysiewicz earns municipal leaders’ endorsement
MIDDLETOWN — Susan Bysiewicz, Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor, has received the endorsement of 19 mayors and first selectmen from Connecticut’s 2nd Congressional District.
New London Mayor Michael Passero hosted a meeting at New London Town Hall Monday, where the news was announced.
“Susan’s experience as a state legislator, secretary of the state, and an attorney helping small businesses, makes her the best candidate for the position of lieutenant governor,” First Selectwoman and state Sen. Cathy Osten said in a prepared statement.
“She has a history of successfully working with leaders in eastern Connecticut on economic development, environmental, veterans and election issue,” Osten added.
“I am proud to support Susan because I believe she has the intellect, energy, and work ethic to be an excellent lieutenant governor. She has extensive knowledge of the needs of small towns, not just in eastern Connecticut, but all across our state,” said Norm Needleman, First Selectman of Essex.
Bysiewicz is the endorsed Democratic Party candidate for lieutenant governor, running on Ned Lamont’s ticket, who served six years in the state Legislature and 12 years as secretary of the state. For the last seven years, she has been a small business attorney, according to the release.
She was raised in Middletown, where she lives with her husband, David Donaldson.
