Students achieve honors, graduate
Salve Regina University
NEWPORT, R.I. — The following area students were awarded degrees during Salve Regina University’s commencement May 20:
Luke Gagnon of Chester, Bachelor of Science in biology; Sean Dolbeare of Cromwell, Bachelor of Arts in administration of justice; Jesse Ferrara of Killingworth, Bachelor of Arts in philosophy, magna cum laude; Gwendolyn Plum of Killingworth, Bachelor of Science in special & elementary education; Kelly Richards of Middletown, Bachelor of Arts in psychology, cum laude; and Ashley Prokop of Portland, Bachelor of Science in business administration and marketing, cum laude.
Tufts University
MEDFORD/SOMERVILLE, Mass. — Local students who graduated from Tufts University’s School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering May 20 included Tushar Vig of Durham, Bachelor’s degree in English; and Alexander Goodrich of Essex, Bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
Quinnipiac University
HAMDEN — Middletown residents Savannah Giammarco and Gregory Hardman were recently inducted into Quinnipiac University’s chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the national communications association’s official honor society for four-year colleges and universities.
To qualify for inductions, students must be a junior or a senior, majoring in the School of Communications, with at least an overall grade-point average of a 3.0 and at least a 3.25 grade point average in all communication courses.
Baylor University
WACO, Texas — Baylor University graduated an area student during commencement exercises May 11 and 12, including Middletown resident Carly Michele Zerr, Master of Science in Education, Higher Education & Student Affairs.
Wilkes University
WILKES-BARRE, Pennsylvania — Wilkes University welcomes nearly 700 first-year students who make up its newest class, including Kendall Castro of Killingworth, who is among the class of 2022. Castro is entering as an undeclared science major.
University of Wisconsin-Green Bay
GREEN BAY, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has named students who earned academic honors for the spring 2018 semester. Students who earn a 4.0 grade point average, which represents all “A” grades, receive highest honors. They include Christine Alexandra Bottone of East Haddam.
