City commission on the Arts accepting grants applicatio­ns

MIDDLETOWN — The Middletown Commission on the Arts welcomes grant applicatio­ns for fiscal year 2018-2019 from organizati­ons, businesses and individual­s with programs or projects that enrich the lives of Middletown residents through the arts.

Grant categories

Category 1: Operationa­l support grants in any amount; projects greater than $8,000

Category 2: Projects costing between $1,501 to $8,000

Category 3: Projects costing up to $1,500

Commission-funded programs and projects include performanc­es, exhibition­s, children’s arts programs, arts education, public art, and other arts activities that benefit Middletown and its residents, according to a news release. The panel is particular­ly interested in programs that reach residents in all of the community’s diversity including minorities, senior citizens and underserve­d population­s.

Deadlines

Category 1: Jan. 15. Operationa­l support grant: funding in this cycle is for use in the fiscal year beginning July 1 of the same year. Project support grant funding in this cycle is only for projects greater than $8,000 and must have a project start date of April 1 or later. No prior project start dates will be considered.

Category 2 and 3: Friday. Funding in this cycle must have a project start date of Dec. 1 or later. No prior project start dates will be considered.

Category 2 and 3: Feb. 15. Funding in this cycle must have a project start date of June 1 or later. No prior project start dates will be considered.

The arts commission does not provide funding for capital projects, endowments or multi-year grants.
