MIDDLETOWN — City voters overwhelmi­ngly voted in Democrats on Election Day and a majority of residents easily passed both state and Middletown referendum­s.

In Middletown, the state’s lockbox measure won 14,421 to 2,056 and public land question passed 13,514 to 2,564. Voters consented to improvemen­ts to two groups of wells at the John S. Roth Wellfield 11,417 to 4,581, and the sidewalks bond earned residents’ approval 12,818 to 3,626.

Middletown’s unofficial results, which reflect winners statewide, break down voter tallies by office:
