Fire, po­lice de­part­ments to help re­stock food bank

EAST HAMP­TON — The po­lice and fire de­part­ments will join forces on Satur­day to help re-stock the East Hamp­ton Food Bank.

Fire­fight­ers and po­lice of­fi­cers will be on hand out­side the Stop & Shop store at 11 East High St., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Satur­day as part of the an­nual “Stuff a Cruiser” food drive pro­gram.

They will be col­lect­ing non-per­ish­able food items and toi­letries for the food bank.

In par­tic­u­lar, food bank of­fi­cial are ask­ing for do­na­tions of hot ce­real, canned fruit, tea, hot choco­late, baked beans and canned tuna as well as de­odor­ant, sham­poo and con­di­tioner.

How­ever, the food bank will gladly ac­cept “all non­ex­pired, non-per­ish­able food items and toi­letries,” or­ga­niz­ers said.

Po­lice and fire of­fi­cials are en­cour­ag­ing res­i­dents to “please stop by to say ‘hello’ and make a do­na­tion.”
