Leaf collection to begin in late November
CROMWELL — The annual leaf collection will officially begin the week of Nov. 26, but stops will be made at locations throughout town where leaf accumulation is usually the heaviest, according to a release.
Beginning on the Nov. 26, a regular route schedule will be followed for leaves being picked up curbside:
⏩ Nov. 26 to 30, Connecticut River to the east side of Main Street
⏩ Dec. 3 to 7, west side of Main Street to the east side of Washington Road
⏩ Dec. 10 to 14, west side of Washington Road to the Berlin town line
These are approximate dates when town crews will be in these areas. They may change based on weather conditions, quantity of leaves to be picked up and holidays, according to the town.
The highway crew will not return for additional collection until the entire town is collected once, and only if weather permits. Only unbagged leaves will be accepted. Residents are asked to not place leaves in the roadway, and to remember only leaves will be picked up. People are asked not to mix leaves with branches and other debris because they will not be accepted.
The town will do it’s best to complete the leaf pickup program as long as weather conditions permit, the release said.
Residents can bring leaves to the Transfer Station on Shunpike Road beginning immediately. There, residents must empty bagged leaves in areas designated by town personnel.
