Familiar faces: KEEP AN EYE ON Building confidence:

Finally, signs of promise. Forward Olivia Nelson-Ododa delivered her best effort of the young season on Thursday — albeit against a Division-II school — recording 16 points and 11 rebounds in 24 minutes against Southern Connecticut State.

The Huskies could benefit from the 6-foot-4 Nelson-Ododa becoming a presence in the post, but it’s unlikely that’ll happen overnight.

“Coming into college basketball it’s definitely not easy, especially at this program,” she said. “But the coaches are amazing at player development.”

Boston College transfer Mariella Fasoula — who played for Greece in the FIBA World Cup this past summer — is averaging 13.7 points and 9.0 rebounds per game for Vandy.

One of the steadiest players in Vanderbilt history will be seated along the Huskies bench. Jasmine Lister, a four-time All-SEC guard, is in her first season as a full-time assistant at UConn. She had previously served with the Huskies as a graduate assistant from 2014-16 before taking a position at DePaul under Doug Bruno.

While at Vanderbilt (2011-14), Lister started all 129 games of her career and broke the school record for minutes played, with 4,626.

Away from home … well, sort of:

This qualifies as the Huskies’ first neutral site game of the season, even though they’ll be just 30 miles from campus.
