Hamden man violates parole, returns to prison

HAMDEN — A local man who violated the conditions of his supervised release from prison, where he was serving time for a drug conviction, has returned to prison, according to a news release.

James Dickerson, known as “Jim Jim,” 35, was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer in New Haven to 21 months of imprisonme­nt.

The release from the Connecticu­t U.S. attorney’s office states Dickerson was among those charged in a major drug ring and found guilty in April 2013 as a result of the joint law enforcemen­t investigat­ion by the FBI New Haven Safe Streets Task Force, DEA New Haven Task Force, New Haven Police Department and Hamden Police Department.

He was sentenced to 168 months of imprisonme­nt, but after an appeal, Dickerson was resentence­d to about 63 months of imprisonme­nt, time served, and three years of supervised release, the release states.

After his release from prison, Dickerson violated multiple conditions of his supervised release, the news release states.

On Aug. 18, Dickerson was arrested in Hamden on larceny charges based on his possession of a stolen motorcycle, on Dec. 12, 2017, he was arrested in Hamden for allegedly possessing cocaine and marijuana and, on May 6, 2018, he was arrested in Cheshire on a variety of charges stemming from a car chase, the release states.

Dickerson has a maximum release date of April 30, 2020, the release states.

Meyer ordered Dickerson to begin serving the 21month federal sentence after his release from state prison.
