Bailey leads Chargers to victory

For the fifth time in the last six games, junior guard Elijah Bailey surpassed 20 points to lead the New Haven men’s basketball team to a 69-56 non-conference win over Assumption College on Saturday afternoon in West Haven.

Bailey was one of four players in double figures. He led all players in the game with 24 points and Derrick Rowland added 14. Roy Kane Jr. of Norwalk and Kessly Felzior each had 11 points for the Chargers (8-5).

Albertus Magnus 102, Rivier 64: The Falcons (10-4, 2-1) had five players scoring in double figures led by Jahmerikah GreenYoung­er and Davon Warner who had 13 points each in their Great Northeast Athletic Conference win in New Haven.

Southern New Hampshire 88, SCSU 86 (2OT): Daquaise Andrews had 27 points and 10 rebounds and Eamonn Joyce added 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Lenmen to their double overtime win in Manchester, New Haven. Kealen Ives had 24 points and Ulyen Coleman added 21 for the Owls.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Albertus Magnus 91, Rivier 57: Shyla Osmond had 21 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists to lead the Falcons to a Great Northeaste­rn Athletic Conference win in New Haven.

Quinnipiac 67, Monmouth 38: On a day where Paula Strautmane scored the 1,000th point of her career, the Bobcats tied the all-time record for consecutiv­e Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victories (35) by defeating Monmouth, 67-38, at the People’s United Center.

New Haven 60, Assumption 47:Alexandria Kerr had 29 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Chargers to their win in West Haven. Camryn DeBose added 21 points and nine rebounds for the Chargers (11-4). Morgan O’Donnell led Assumption with 15 points.

Southern New Hampshire 79, Southern Connecticu­t 59: Kylie Lorenzen had 20 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Penmen to their win in Manchester, N.H. Kiana Steinauer led the Owls with 20 points and 18 rebounds.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

Cornell 2, Quinnipiac 1: Maddie Mills scored the game-winning goal at 2:22 of the third period to lead Cornell. Kati Tabin scored for the Bobcats (7-13-3, 67-1).

Yale 4, Brown 1: Rebecca Vanstone and Julia Yetman each had a goal and an assist to lead the Bulldogs.
